For our Takeda office in Stockholm, we are looking for Patient Advocacy Lead who will support our commitment to building meaningful relationships with patient organizations as well as the patient- and caregiver communities. This role will be reporting to the Head of Patient Value & Access and Public Policy.

In this role, you will collaborate closely with the Public Policy Lead, Head of Communication, and teams in market access and medical affairs, serving as a primary point of contact for patient organizations spanning Rare Diseases, Oncology, Neuroscience, and Gastroenterology. Your adept collaboration and project management skills are highly valued as you engage with patient organizations and other stakeholders, contributing to enhancing conditions for patients.

OBJECTIVES/PURPOSE

  • Champion the needs and priorities of patients, ensuring that patient perspectives are integrated into decision-making processes and initiatives across all functions in the organization.

  • Cultivate and maintain partnerships with patient advocacy groups, patient opinion leaders, and other stakeholders to collaboratively address challenges and advocate for policies that enhance patient access to treatments and support services.

  • Influence healthcare policies and regulations through strategic advocacy efforts, aiming to improve patient outcomes, promote equitable access to healthcare, and address unmet needs within the healthcare system.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Lead the development and execution of a comprehensive patient advocacy strategy aligned with Takeda’s goals, tightly interlinked with policy initiatives aimed at improving patient access to medications and healthcare services.

  • Strengthening long-term relations with key patient organizations by generating / acting upon insights, managing expectations, and building long-term trust based on mutual respect. Serve as the first point of contact for all patient organizations.

  • Initiate, implement and follow-up on Value based partnerships and projects that address unmet patient needs and are based on a mutual alignment of objectives with patient organizations.

  • Work closely with the cross-functional teams to integrate patient advocacy considerations into broader business strategies and initiatives.

  • Increase internal stakeholders' understanding of unmet patient needs, the patient perspective, the objectives of patient organizations, and patient advocacy issues, ensuring alignment with company values and objectives.

  • Being an appreciated ambassador for Takeda Sweden in interactions with other Patient Advocacy Leads in the Nordics, EUCAN and globally contributing to the advancement of patient-centric policies and practices.

EDUCATION, BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS

  • Bachelor’s degree within life sciences or similar

  • 3-5 years of experience in a pharma/biotech company, in a patient organization or in a policy shaping function

  • Ambitious and organized team player, eager to learn and adept at assuming responsibility

  • Track record of successfully working across highly matrixed teams, influencing without authority, and influence change within a complex organization

  • Experience in defining project plans and managing project teams

  • Excellent communication skills required and fluency in Swedish and English
