This person will lead a technical team to define and own the Power Architecture and roadmap for all MR global products. This role will also ensure the Power Architecture & Distribution team develops the products to meet future objectives and ensures customer and business requirements are met through global, cross-functional collaboration.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Drive solutions for Customer Lifecycle, to capture high-margin revenue streams, with quality, Upgrades, NPI.

  • Enable Platforming – across products, MR, Imaging – configurations to allow products to ladder up/down.

  • Develop Enterprise Solutions – focus team on Total cost of ownership (TCO) for clinical and non-clinical customer needs.

People Leadership:

  • Lead a team consisting of power electronics, controls engineers, packaging, thermal, and ECAD designers.

  • Support the IB for all existing products within Manufacturing, Sourcing, Service and Supplier Quality Engineering.

  • Functionally lead the team, including recruitment, team/talent development within Technology Career Development (TCD) framework, competency improvement, mentoring, assessment, development, promotion and coaching of direct and indirect technical employees.

  • Drive resource assignment and prioritization, including headcount and base cost budget.

  • Lead change through creative solutions to unstructured product and system design issues.

Operational Rigor:

  • Optimize team’s participation in all phases of product development.

  • Instill a rigorous approach to target costing for new products and driving cost out of existing products through platform solutions and the development and introduction of new technologies.

  • Ensure design controls and technical design reviews are applied and conducted compliantly and timely, per GE design controls requirements.

  • Drive continuous improvement of sub-systems, systems, products, and processes.

  • Relentless attention to customer satisfaction as related to Power Subsystem performance, reliability, and quality.

Strategy Leadership:

  • Assist developing the power electronics technology strategy and direction of the MRI business.

  • Provide functional leadership for complex MR subsystems including but not limited to Gradient Amplifiers/Power Supplies, Power Distribution Systems, Gradient Filters, Gradient Control Hardware, Gradient Algorithm Development, and associated System Interconnect Cables with focus on quality, NPI, and key ATD efforts for future generation products.

  • As Global Platform Owner, provide platform leadership to multiple MR business segments, including defining, with SME’s, the global platform strategy, ensuring technical and program-level ownership, competency and capacity to execute effectively.

  • Collaborate closely with scientists and engineers at the Global Research Centers to advance the state of the art, as part of a comprehensive roadmap.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s in Power Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering or equivalent

  • 10 years relevant work experience in Power Electronics subsystems

  • 10 years project, product or functional leadership experience

  • Prior experience successfully leading individual contributors, either directly or indirectly

  • Proven ability to work cross-functionally in a highly matrixed organization

  • Demonstrated ability to deliver results while working on multiple global projects simultaneously, balancing resources, timing and quality of outcomes.

Desired Characteristics

  • Master’s or PhD in Engineering

  • Magnetic Resonace Imaging (MRI) Hardware Technology experience

  • High precision power conversion related work experience

  • 10 years relevant work experience

  • 10 years project, product or functional leadership experience

  • 10 years relevant industry experience

  • Knowledge of intellectual property procedures, preferably with experience as an inventor in related discipline

  • Experience successfully interfacing with strategic suppliers and manufacturing professionals.

  • Prior experience with LEAN, Six-Sigma, FastWorks and Simplification methodologies

  • Demonstrated influencing skills with stakeholders at all levels of the business.

  • Proven mentoring and coaching abilities; demonstrated ability to motivate & inspire others.

  • Excellent internal and external communication skills

  • Demonstrated complex problem-solving skills.
