Insight Global GIS Team Lead in Bellevue, Washington

Job Description

Overview:

We are seeking a dynamic GIS Lead Analyst to oversee and lead a team of four resources in electric and gas mapping initiatives supporting a Pacific Northwest utility company. The ideal candidate will possess expertise in GIS, particularly in GE Small World systems, and will be responsible for guiding and training team members in best practices in that system.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and mentor a team of four resources in electric and gas mapping projects, ensuring adherence to best practices and standards.

  • Manage and prioritize mapping tasks to optimize team efficiency and meet project deadlines.

  • Digitize electric and gas as-built maps using GE Small World Electric Office and Gas Office, ensuring accuracy and quality.

  • Modernize legacy documentation for remediation and digitization purposes, providing guidance to team members as needed.

  • Utilize SAP as a ticketing system to manage construction drawings, materials, and project scope documents, providing training to team members on system usage.

  • Review and validate team members' work for accuracy and completeness, providing constructive feedback and coaching as necessary.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of mapping data into operational processes.

  • Develop and maintain documentation on best practices, workflows, and standard operating procedures for electric and gas mapping initiatives.

Additional Information:

  • Safety is a top priority for our company, and accuracy in mapping directly contributes to operational safety.

  • Expectations include maintaining a high level of accuracy (95-98%) and adhering to safety protocols, especially for medium and high voltage projects.

  • Discrepancies are expected occasionally and should be resolved promptly using available resources such as Google Maps, Bing Maps, or County information.

Skills and Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Geography, GIS, Computer Science, or related field.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in GIS, with proficiency in GE Small World Electric Office (EO) and Gas Office.

  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to mentor and train team members effectively.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.

  • Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and quality.

  • Experience with SAP or similar ticketing systems preferred. null
