Assistant Professor - Mathematics

FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

The Mathematics Department at New York City College of Technology (City Tech), a comprehensive college of the City University of New York offering 58 associate and baccalaureate degree programs, invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin Fall 2024. The Mathematics Department offers three degree programs: an associate degree program (AS) in Computer Science, a baccalaureate degree program (BS) in Applied Mathematics, and a baccalaureate degree program (BS) in Mathematics Education.

The Assistant Professor is expected to maintain an active research program and be committed to excellence in teaching. The faculty member will be expected to contribute service to the Mathematics Department and the School of Arts and Science, and more generally to support the mission of the college. Service expectations include but are not limited to: support of the day-to-day operation of the department, admissions, recruitment and retention, student advisement, assessment, governance, development of partnerships, pursuit of external funding, curriculum development and accreditation requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Qualifications

A Ph.D. in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics or Mathematics Education. Also required are the ability to teach successfully, demonstrated scholarship or achievement, and the ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

COMPENSATION

$75,465 - $93,134. Salary commensurate with experience and qualifications.
