BlackRock Legal Trainee - Digital Enterprise Legal team-3 in Budapest, Hungary

About this role

The Digital Enterprise Legal team within BlackRock is seeking a Privacy law-focused Legal Trainee in its Budapest office to join BlackRock’s multi-year professional development program for recent law school graduates. This program will enable candidates to achieve Hungarian legal qualification, while being trained under the supervision of a global team of commercial transactions attorneys at BlackRock. We are specifically encouraging candidates with 2-4 years’ experience in EU data privacy law (GDPR) to apply; such candidates may be given advanced placement. You will work directly with BlackRock’s head of privacy legal, colleagues in compliance, and practice-leading outside counsel, resulting in significant exposure and professional development. A successful program candidate would potentially reach attorney role by the end of theprofessional development program. In the early stages, the program will provide broad general legal skills training. This will be followed by focused exposure on privacy law matters in support of BlackRock’s growing technology footprint, including client technology services, cloud platforms and artificial intelligence applications, in all cases, working under close attorney supervision.

The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, driven, organized, resourceful and detail-oriented. Essential job functions will include:

Responsibilities:

· Exposure to reviewing/negotiating Data Processing Agreements both from client-facing and procurement perspectives.

· Assist with updating privacy agreement and schedule templates.

· Provide support on analysis of fact patterns and issues raised by novel situations, as required.

· Work with Digital Enterprise Legal product counsel to evaluate privacy implications of new technology offerings, where applicable.

· Identify opportunities to improve legal support and business processes, and devise plans to implement appropriate changes.

· Respond to ad-hoc requests for contract information regarding both client and vendor contracts.

· Work with colleagues in multiple time zones as part of a global team.

Requirements:

· Exceptional analytical, written and verbal communication skills, strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills, and must be able to work effectively both independently and as a member of the team, in a demanding, fast-paced, global environment.

· Able to manage a large volume of concurrent tasks within specific timeframes, with a high degree of accuracy and timeliness in work.

· Strong written (clear and concise), verbal and interpersonal communications skills in English. Ability to interact comfortably and communicate clearly with a variety of levels of personnel.

· Strong interest in learning about BlackRock, financial technology services, and the investment management industry, and have the ability and desire to develop expertise in data privacy and adjacent areas of law.

· 2-3 years of prior experience in any or all of the following, including in a supporting or junior capacity: exposure to drafting and implementation of privacy legislation, such as GDPR; overseeing and administering privacy compliance regimes; drafting and negotiating privacy contract arrangements (including privacy schedules, privacy agreements, data transfer agreements and technical and organizational measures (TOMs));

· Experience may be gained either in-house, in specialist consulting firms, or in a law firm, with a preference for financial services (please indicate in your resume).

· Ability to work in BlackRock’s Budapest-based office.

· Proficiency in Excel and Word is required.

· Completion of an LLM in or outside of Hungary is an advantage.
