Description

Responsibilities of Finance Manager

  • Review & approve the daily operations of the Accounting Coordinator.

  • Maintain internal controls and safeguards for receipt of revenue, costs, and program budgets and actual expenditures.

  • Assist Director of Finance in the budget & planning process; administer and review financial plans.

  • Manage, track, & reconcile the performance of invested assets in keeping with policies and investment guidelines.

  • Oversee project/program and grants accounting; ensure that expenditures are consistently aligned with grant and program budgets throughout the grant/fund period.

  • Work with Director of Finance & Administration to establish a Balance Sheet reconciliation process and take ownership of the process.

  • Coordinate with the Accounting Coordinator and Director of Finance & Administration.

  • Aid, provide backup support, and training (as necessary) to the Accounting Coordinator.

  • Assist the Director of Finance & Administration in the Accounting system ERP & CRM project review.

  • Provide support in the budgeting and forecasting process.

  • Support the Director of Finance & Administration in preparing the financial packet for the board, audit, and finance committees.

  • Assist in the development of departmental training manuals, controls, and monthly closing procedures.

  • Oversee all accounts, ledgers, and reporting to ensure compliance with GAAP and fund-based accounting standards & regulatory requirements.

    Requirements

Skills/Qualifications of Finance Manager

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field; MBA or CPA preferred

  • Proven experience as a Finance Manager or similar role, with a minimum of 5 years of experience

  • Strong understanding of financial principles, practices, and regulations

  • Proficiency in using 3M, Accounting Software Systems, ADP - Financial Services, ERP - Enterprise Resource Planning systems

  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of Accounting Functions, Auditing, Budget Processes, Compliance, Budgeting, Forecasting, and Balance Sheet Reconciliation

  • Familiarity with CRM and its practical applications in financial management

  • Strong analytical skills with an ability to create financial reports and conduct cost analyses

  • Solid understanding of financial statistics and accounting principles
