Position Overview

This position supports production operations by repairing and maintaining all packaging and support equipment.

Main Areas of Responsibilities

This position is responsible for:

  • Troubleshoots and repairs packaging and support equipment as required to support packaging operations.

  • Performs preventive maintenance (PM) on packaging and support equipment.

  • Initiates work orders in the CMMS for repairs, spare parts consumption and/or adjustments required on the equipment.

  • Initiates hand written purchase requisitions for non-stock materials needed for repair, PM or consumed during the performance of their duties.

  • Completes all required documentation needed to maintain the GMP requirements associated with work order completion and training records.

  • Reads and interprets machine drawings and electrical schematics as needed to troubleshoot, repair and maintain the packaging equipment and their supporting equipment.

  • Install/assist with installation and start-up new equipment brought into the facility.

  • Assist in the creation of corrective actions for equipment related deviations.

  • Develop line improvement ideas to increase line efficiencies and/or reduce labor.

  • Completes modifications to the packaging equipment approved through the Change Control program.

  • Executes packaging equipment qualification protocols.

  • Assists the writing and approval of packaging equipment SOP’s.

  • Communicates effectively with employees, management, vendors and contractors.

  • Assists in the training of production staff to be proficient with the set-up and operation of processing/packaging equipment.

  • Performs other miscellaneous job duties as assigned by department management.

  • Travel may be required to support equipment repairs or new equipment acceptance testing.

The following listed requirements need to be met at a minimum level to be considered for the job:

  • High School diploma or equivalent. Technical school or equivalent military experience is preferred.

  • Qualified candidates should have 3-5 years of direct experience troubleshooting and maintaining packaging equipment.

  • Demonstrated expertise with troubleshooting and repair of high speed packaging equipment. Excellent analytical skills and working knowledge of electrical, computer, pneumatic, and mechanical systems. Must read and comprehend mechanical drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals. Experience should include programmable logic controllers (PLC), hardwired relay logic systems. Experience with thermoforming equipment and metal fabrication is preferred but not required.
