Arkansas Employer Accounting Assistant in Conway, Arkansas

The purpose of the Accounting Assistant is to assist in all areas of the department as needed on accounts payable/vendor management, general accounting, or other administrative duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Approve new vendors for accounts payable by performing selected audit or call back validation tasks to ensure proper internal controls occur in this area. This duty is performed daily, about 50% of the time.

2. Manage or make changes to Accounts Payable Approval Processes in BankTEL. This duty is performed monthly, about 10% of the time.

3. Perform a deep review of all Accounts Payable Approval Processes quarterly to ensure they are on the Board Approved List. This duty is performed quarterly, about 5% of the time.

4. Maintain the AP Approval Email Group as changes occur. This duty is performed as needed, about 5% of the time.

5. Add/Remove Surrogate Approvers in BankTEL. This duty is performed as needed, about 5% of the time.

6. Assist in a rotation of ATEAM review which is a weekly responsibility to review GL and branch coding for any invoices over \$3,000. This duty is performed weekly, about 10% of the time.

7. Assist reconciliation clerks as needed. This duty is performed as needed, about 1% of the time.

8. Assist senior accountants and train as a back-up as needed. This duty is performed as needed, about 1% of the time.

9. Assist the Controller and Assistant Controller on administrative tasks, special projects including acquisition related tasks. This duty is performed as needed, about 5% of the time.

10. Assist with any internal and external audit requests for the department. This duty is performed as needed, about 3% of the time.

11. The ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner. This duty is performed daily.

12. Completes required BSA/AML training and other compliance training as assigned. This duty is performed quarterly.

13. Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty mentioned satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

High school or GED, plus specialized schooling and/or on the job education in a specific skill area; e.g. data processing, clerical/administrative, equipment operation, etc., plus 4 years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS

Ability to effectively communicate information and respond to questions in person-to-person and small group situations with customers, clients, general public and other employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to prepare and interpret bar graphs.

CRITICAL THINKING SKILLS

Ability to use common sense understanding in order to carry out detailed written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few known variables in situations of a routine nature.
