Flint Community Schools 2nd Clerk in Flint, Michigan

Assignment: 2nd Clerk *(Employer is Edustaff) *

The 2nd Clerk is an employee of Edustaff and performs and coordinates varied and responsible secretarial and clerical functions relieving the Principal of clerical and routine administrative detail including making frequent contacts with parents, students and staff.

All applicants will have to apply and pass the Edustaff screening process to be hired.

If a placement offer is made, the employment relationship will be considered an "at will" employment relationship with Edustaff, not the District.  There will be no contractual relationship or promise made concerning your worksite placement at the District. 

Placement: Flint Community Schools (specific school location to be determined)

Essential Job Functions (note this is not an exhaustive list of the duties performed for this position):

  • Acts as a clerk in the school office, assisting the secretary and principal as needed.
  • Assists with the student registration process by preparing enrollment documents, verifying incoming records including immunization requirements, education levels and special needs, prepares, releases and transfers documents, process attendance and progress reports.
  • Maintains student attendance records.
  • Processes transcript requests and education verifications.
  • Assists with the maintenance of student academic records; enter test scores, grades and other record keeping data, maintain student folders and emergency contact records,
  • Communicates with Transportation Department as needed to resolve busing issues.
  • Assists with lunch applications and payments as needed.
  • Serves as School Secretary in the absence of the regular School Secretary.
  • Greets visitors and answers phones.
  • Generates reports and maintains working computer files for school, computerized attendance system, heavy computer use, i.e., E-Mail, use of scanners, etc.
  • Represent the District and Edustaff in a professional manner by performing all job functions at a satisfactory or above level.
  • Interact with co-workers, administration, students, parents, and the community in a positive, supportive, and cooperative way.
  • Performs other related duties, including special projects, as required or requested, consistent with reasonable expectations for the contracted position.

Qualifications:

High School diploma required. Associate degree in business management or related field preferred.

At least 3 years of responsible clerical experience preferred.

Must complete the required Global Compliance Network online training modules.

Must possess intermediate computer skills.

Demonstrated use of office equipment (computers, phones, fax machines, copy machines).

Demonstrated competence in the use of current Microsoft Office products e.g. Word, Excel and the ability to learn specific business systems in a timely and efficient manner. edustaff.org

Demonstrated knowledge of current office practices and procedures including filing methods and organizational techniques.

Demonstrated ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret and implement a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Demonstrated record of good attendance and punctuality.

Demonstrated strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Demonstrated ability to handle high stress situations in a calm and appropriate manner, while making good decisions.

Demonstrated ability to speak clearly and concisely both in oral and written communication.
