We actively encourage applications and/or nominations of persons of color, women, veterans, persons with disabilities and other individuals.KCTCS is an equal opportunity employer and educational institution.POSITION DESCRIPTIONThe primary purpose of the CDL Instructor is to coordinate, promote, and deliver customized Class A, CDL training (instruction) for students in a credit program.MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES•Coordinate the development and delivery of Class A, CDL training to students from a variety of backgrounds. Must be present on campus or training site for teaching and advising a minimum of 37.5 hours per week. •Comply with all state and federal CDL/DOT requirements. Ensure program standards meet the Federal and State Training Provider Registry Requirements.•Coordinate part-time instructor assignments and course scheduling. Assist in securing additional adjunct instructors as needed. •Assist with instructional training modules and monitor student skills/progress while maintaining student files. Track student completion and learning outcomes including grades, graduation requirements, and performance tracking.•Assist with counseling students concerning the program, their progress and completion requirements. •Escort students to Kentucky State Police testing facility and prepare them for successful completion of the Class A, CDL driving test.•Manage CDL operational needs and supplies for the program, working closely with Director of Program and other staff in the Workforce Solutions department.•Participate in student and employer recruiting as well as participate in team planning meetings. •Other duties as assigned (may include departmental meetings, internal or external service, professional development, etc.). MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS•Associate’s degree and three years related experience, or equivalent. •Must hold a valid Kentucky Class A, CDL license with over-the-road CDL driving experience. •Ability to effectively communicate with and respond to diverse populations and situations that arise. Ability to think quickly and respond appropriately in high-pressure situations. •Excellent organizational skills, time management, flexibility, and attention to detail. Ability to remain apprised of current industry standards and state laws and regulations. •In-depth knowledge of and ability to teach every aspect of truck driving.
