Position Overview

The Director, BIM (Business Information Management) – R&D IT based in Madison, NJ will be responsible for acting as the primary liaison between the Chief Medical Office, Medical Affairs, Internal IT, R&D Development and support functions. The position will manage business and IT strategy, deliver for projects, requests and services and manage internal support solutions.

Main Areas of Responsibilities

  • Execute on technology projects that have defining project objectives and scope, aligning requirements to the business objectives, providing estimates to the business, gaining business approval, assembling core and extended team members, and initiating projects with the Managed Services development team.

  • Ensure all services and deliverables are addressed with an appropriate balance of business and technical expertise, as well as compliance from a corporate policy, regulatory and security perspective.

  • Manage service providers and vendors including client services project managers, software vendors, and application support service providers.

  • Define and understand the business needs of the client, recommending solutions when appropriate, providing potential options and foreseeing project demand within the next 12-36 months.

  • Prepare and deliver presentations to the business and their clients and vendors to drive alignment and initiate understanding of solutions in response to evolving business needs.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients including customer satisfaction, cultivating growth, as well as day-to-day communication as necessary.

  • Serve as primary escalation point for R&D organization, IT and their vendors; responsible for efficient and quick issue and problem resolution.

  • Provide industry expertise to clients and their agencies of record, as needed including collaboratively building business cases, developing use cases and analyzing requirements. strategic implementation of large initiatives and other smaller initiatives, ensuring that digital solutions meet the needs of the business while remaining scalable across the organization.

  • Communicate effectively with all levels of IT and business management with information on technology initiatives.

  • Identify opportunities for digital innovation based on an understanding of external trends and how they can meet brand/customer needs.

  • Develop a portfolio-level digital capabilities and partner with business to communicate new digital tools/trends and how they can be leveraged to drive brand business.


The following listed requirements need to be met at a minimum level to be considered for the job:

  • Minimum of eight (8) years of IT technical client services and project management experience using formal methodologies; life sciences, healthcare, general consulting experience preferred.

Preferred Skills/Qualification

  • Clear expertise and experience analyzing business process, technology capability and building and IT strategy for the Medical Affairs, Safety or Health Economic and Outcomes Research organization.

  • Expertise in a broad range of new and emerging technologies, platforms and their application to R&D. Examples include Amazon Web Services (AWS), Sitecore CMS, Veeva iRep, Veeva CRM, Veeva Vault, IRMS, Office 365/Sharepoint.

  • Proven track record of working highly collaborative, leading without authority, and driving cross-functional groups to alignment and action on high-profile, complex organizational challenges.

  • Strong interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills, including presenting to business audiences.

  • Strong analytic skills (experimentation methods, logical analysis, problem solving, quantification of business ideas, research skills).

  • Understanding of legal, regulatory and compliance requirements for bio-pharma or other highly regulated industries preferred, but not required.

  • Previous pharmaceutical industry and/or consumer marketing experience preferred.

  • Budget management experience including contract review and negotiation experience and vendor management experience.

  • Ability to lead change, be change agile and be comfortable with ambiguity/white space

  • Demonstrated decision-making, organizational and prioritization skills.

  • Demonstrated capabilities of influence are essential, experience working across complex organizations to build the support needed to complete projects.

  • Excellent customer service skills and abilities.

  • Ability to establish sound working relationships with people in a wide variety of disciplines and backgrounds.


  • BA/BS degree is required; advanced degree, MBA, is preferred.
