Position Overview

The VP, IT Global Commercial is responsible for leading IT business services for all Allergan business units covering our therapeutic areas on a global basis: Central Nervous System (CNS), Gastroenterology (GI), Eye Care and Medical Aesthetics. The VP IT is responsible for a leading a global team of approximately 200 professionals covering 75 countries. The team is comprised of Business Information Managers (BIMs) and Center of Excellence (CoE) leaders who are responsible for managing relationships with the commercial business leaders, delivering strategic projects, managing budgets and resources, and increasing the value realized from IT assets, investments, and capabilities. This position will be based in Madison, NJ.

Main Areas of Responsibilities

  • Lead and implement global digital delivery and support services to all countries.

  • Drive standardization and harmonization of the application portfolio.

  • Ensure the team provides stellar support and communication with their respective customers.

  • Drive open collaboration and transparency within the team and with other Global IT services teams.

  • Lead team to support all global sales forces and sales operations technology including, Veeva CRM, Veeva CLM, Event Management, and OrgMan manager.

  • Lead team to support all global marketing operations such as but not limited to Global Digital Factory, MLR systems, Portal and Mobile applications, Campaign management platforms, Reimbursement Hubs, and digital compliance solutions.

  • The US Contract management CoE supports all US Finance and Marketing business for US Pricing and Contact management solutions.

  • The global Commercial Intelligence CoE supports all global Master Data Management solution, analytics and reporting including machine learning and AI.

  • The US Loyalty program CoE supports US consumer and Customer loyalty program such as but not limited to Brilliant Distinction, APP, AllerganOne, and Allergan Direct.

  • Actively participate with leadership teams for all commercial leadership meetings.

  • Provide Business Commercial expertise and meet regularly with business owners to ensure alignment on key priorities.

  • Support the customers in the creation of business vision & strategy.

  • Provide input to long range strategic plan, IT Roadmap and project portfolio.

  • Collect input and identify business drivers for US and Global commercial initiatives.

  • Ensure that developed roadmap and portfolio of project meet customer needs and budget.

  • Confirm resources and timelines with customer and coordinate with Technical Architects and other Delivery teams.

  • Promote culture of operational excellence and continuous improvement.

  • Identify and drive process improvement initiatives to successful completion.


The following listed requirements need to be met at a minimum level to be considered for the job:

  • 20+ years of BIM experience, 15+ years of relevant IT experience, and minimum 8 years in Commercial IT with Pharmaceutical & Medical Device companies.

  • Experience supporting, and leading global commercial service organizations is a plus.

Preferred Skills/Qualification

The below skills are attributes that are desired in the ideal candidate.

  • Experience managing remote teams globally, as well as managing indirect, direct reports, and contingent resources required.

  • Successful experience in a highly matrixed environment and collaborating with Corporate global service IT organization required.

  • Advanced understanding of the pharmaceutical business, general business processes, and the systems environment in place to support those processes.

  • Experience with multiple and diverse application environments including Sales, Marketing, Revenue Management, Data Privacy, Digital solutions, Digital Factory services, Mobile Technology, and Business Intelligence processes and applications; SiteCore, Adobe Campaign, Gigya, Veeva CRM/CLM/Approved Email, Veeva Vault/DAM, Zinc Ahead, Sharepoint, Cloud solutions & hosting, Consumer & Professional Websites, customer portals and enterprise platforms and solutions.

  • Proven technical, leadership and management skills with the ability to manage simultaneous priorities and changing deadlines.

  • Able to present a professional image of IT to all stakeholders through verbal and written interactions.

  • Exceptional customer service skills and abilities.

  • Excellent vendor management skills. Proven experience with managing external global third party Managed Services Providers and software vendors.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, persuasion, and conflict resolution skills with a strong sense of urgency.

  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communications skills with the ability to effectively interact with customers, associates and at all levels of management.

  • Ability to Travel (typically 40%).


  • Minimum or equivalent of a BA/BS degree is required; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
