Medical Advisor – Hematology/Rare Disease - LATAM
Preferred location: Mexico City Area
Leverages in depth scientific knowledge, clinical expertise, and a professional position within the medical community as a credible peer, to cultivate and integrate substantive relationships with key opinion leaders (KOLs), clinicians, academic institutions, professional organizations, and patient advocacy groups, to provide education on safe and effective use of Kedrion products and disease state information.
Develop a solid understanding of local experts in specific therapeutic areas and the healthcare environment in which they work, developing and maintaining relationships with external stakeholders. Support business objectives through medical leadership.
Core Responsibilities:
Manages critical relationships with KOLs and other customers through the compliant exchange of complex scientific information related to areas of research and product development within the geographic area of coverage
Provides the unique service of disseminating current and emerging data in response to specific HCP inquiries, and delivers expert disease-state and product education
Understands and balances clinical objectives with business priorities creating a positive impact on product utilization, product innovation, and growth in line with the guidance of the US & LATAM Medical Affairs Lead
Provides internal stakeholders with a scientific foundation and expert medical- scientific resource with which to optimize their performance through the development and execution of disease-state and product educational initiatives
Partners with cross-functional teams as a conduit for accurate and updated medical- scientific information, medical-scientific intelligence, emerging clinical trends, and medical insights
Contributes to define and execute the Medical Plans in the assigned geography in compliance with the assigned budget
Responsibilities and Accountability includes:
Identifies, cultivates and integrates substantive relationships with KOLs within the specific therapeutic area to foster the identification of key opportunities for scientific growth and medical evidence for the support and/or expansion of current use of therapies, and execution of joint initiatives such as research, publication planning, and continuing medical education within the geographic area of coverage
Maintains comprehensive medical-scientific knowledge of specific therapeutic area, related disease states, and evolving clinical issues related to products, through literature surveillance and participation in, scientific meetings, such as to learn, interpret, and convey new scientific information
Executes on stakeholder engagement plans to gather data, develops and shares medical insights that contribute to the enhancement of Kedrion products and therapeutic areas
In collaboration with the US & LATAM Medical Medical Affairs lead, contributes to define the Medical Plans in the assigned geography, defining relevant budget and contributes with the execution, monitoring and adaptation of approved medical plans, in compliance with the assigned budget
Recognizes, records and shares insights that deepen our understanding of the needs of patients, consumers, regulators, payers, and healthcare providers and proactively contributes towards identifying unmet needs
Contributes expertise to the internal review and interpretation of study data, facilitates publication opportunities, and executes strategies
Interprets and develops timely, focused responses to internal and external requests for medical–scientific information (including compliant dissemination of unsolicited requests for off-label information) regarding products
Collaborates providing medical and scientific perspective during respective cross-functional brand- planning strategy meetings; contributes to the development and refinement of business initiatives, and aligns KOL interactions with successful implementation and achievement of medical strategy
Coordinates and conducts professional education, and one-on-one peer exchange, as well as expert product training, to external and internal audiences within the specific therapeutic area, involving highly-complex therapies
Contributes with an expert clinical perspective on the identification and integration of participants in the Speaker’s Bureau and Advisory Boards
Serves as a reliable resource for education and dissemination of pertinent, clear, and balanced medical –scientific information to internal audiences (Marketing Brand Leaders, National Accounts Leaders, Research and Development, and Sales) and external audiences (healthcare professionals, patient organizations, homecare companies, distributors, service providers pharmacovigilance, medical information, etc.).
Qualifications:
Degree in science/medicine required (MD, PhD, Pharm D preferred)
Prior experience as a Medical Advisor, Medical Science Liaison or similar role within the pharmaceutical/biotechnology/Plasma industry required
Preferred clinical and research experience within the specific therapeutic area (hematology, rare disease)
Patient/customer-focused
Self-directed, highly motivated, independent, and results-oriented
Possess the desire and ability to conduct professional and compassionate interactions in serious disease-state physician and patient populations
Possess excellent communication skills; be able to communicate complex scientific information and credibly manage informal and formal scientific conversations and presentations. Proficiency with MS Office software required
Fluent in Spanish and English
Develop scientifically credible and respected effective working relationships with both internal and external customers
Search, read, interpret and convey pertinent medical literature within the specific therapeutic area and establish self as a valuable resource to internal and external customers
Cultivate collaborative working relationships between Medical Affairs and other disciplines on cross-functional teams
Maintain a high level of ethical and compliance standards
Travel requirement: Accomplishing one’s objectives takes precedent over precise number of days spent traveling; however, the candidate should expect to fulfill at least a 50% travel requirement, including some weekends.
Location: The LATAM Medical Advisor role with Kedrion Biopharma Inc. is a field-based role where your home office location is preferable in Mexico DF, Mexico and in close proximity to a major airport, as the role requires nationwide domestic travel and International travel mostly within the LATAM region.
