POSITION DETAILS

The Financial Reporting Analyst reports directly to the Accounting and Reporting Manager and is primarily responsible for all Financial Reporting activities for the Finance and Administration Department.

This position requires the incumbent to work in the office four days a week and one day remotely. This hybrid work schedule is subject to change.

Duties include but are not limited:

  • Develops, enhances and updates detailed financial statements from multiple financial systems for programs, departments, centers and institutes referred to as “All Fund Reports” for the President., Provost, Senior Vice President for Finance and Administration, and other constituents throughout the Graduate Center.

  • Develops and distributes quarterly projections for related entities.

  • Performs forensic analyses of historical revenue and expenditures as needed.

  • Serves as a liaison with Provost staff to provide monthly and quarterly reports related to fund balances held in the CUNY Research Foundation, the Graduate Center and the non-tax levy activities including all related entities.

  • Serves as a liaison with Budget Directors to provide/prepare (pull/deliver) ad hoc reports related to tax levy budgets and projections.

  • Develops reports and presentations as directed by either the SVP for Finance and Administration or VP for Finance and Administration as needed.

  • Serves as a liaison with staff in the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs to provide reports of funds held by the Research Foundation (RF) CUNY.

  • Develops budgets for non-tax levy activities.

  • Develops and maintains consistency in financial reporting and financial statements.

  • Assists with system implementations within the Business Office.

  • Assists with yearend audit, including preparation of analyses, financial statements, notes to financial statements, and Management Discussion and Analysis (MDA).

  • Monitors and reconciles general ledger accounts, investigates discrepancies, and resolves issues promptly.

  • Prepares journal entries and accounting transactions as needed, under the direction of the Manager or Controller.

  • Develops and maintains financial reporting templates to streamline reporting processes.

  • Creates requisitions for the Business Office for related entities.

  • Assists with accounting oversight of transactions under direction of Manager or Control to ensure college compliance with GASB accounting principles and segregation of duties within the department.

  • Develops other ad hoc reports as requested.

  • Performs other duties as assigned which are reasonably within the scope of this job classification.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's Degree and four years' related experience required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field. An advanced degree can be used to substitute for up to 2 years of related work experience.

  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office and database applications.

  • Proficiency with College revenue accounting for Tuition and Fees and Adult Continuing Education.

  • Experience with PeopleSoft 9.2. and/or Workday.

  • Excellent communication skills, oral and written.

  • Ability to work independently on complex assignments.

  • Availability to work occasional evenings or weekends.

Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. Sponsorship will not be offered for this position.

  • Analyzes spending, income trends and usage to recommend improvements

  • Monitors the financial condition of operating centers to ensure efficient use of resources

  • Performs ad hoc reporting and analysis as necessary

  • May supervise subordinate staff

$52,267 - $70,238. Salary commensurate with education and experience.
