The Data Analyst is responsible for understanding and analyzing data to assist in the management and improvement activities related to Stanford Children's Health Treatment Center, which includes Periop, Radiology and Interventional Services. This position will analyze data to measure performance and provide the associated insights to the Treatment Center and organization leadership. The Data Analyst will leverage quantitative and qualitative data from multiple sources, including Epic, the Electronic Medical Record (EMR), and other operational and financial systems to identify improvement opportunities and manage performance on key functions and processes.

Must perform all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the hospital’s policies and procedures, including its Service Standards and its Code of Conduct.

  • Combine a deep understanding of the operational processes of the Treatment Center with a familiarity of the data generated by the treatment center and the analytical tools to understand and generate insights from these data

  • Collect, analyze and interpret data in the Treatment Center setting

  • Shadow and interview front line providers and managers to understand their processes and challenges

  • Develop analytics and reporting solutions that provide insights to Treatment Center stakeholders and Stanford Children¿s Health leadership

  • Acquire data from multiple systems, including the Epic EMR and other systems to provide ad-hoc analysis and reporting solutions to assist in the management of key processes and improvement activities

  • Assist the IS-Analytics data architecture team in developing data mart solutions to enable self-service analytics for use by Treatment Center stakeholders

  • Analyze performance of key functions and processes across the Treatment Center to identify process improvement opportunities through quantitative and qualitative assessment

  • Provides training to staff and user clients as appropriate on various systems and analytics solutions

  • Develop analytics solutions that assist in managing process improvement efforts and sustaining key processes in the Treatment Center

  • Provide business analysis to analytics teams to support development of Treatment Center related analytics solutions

    Minimum Qualifications

    Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities as well as possession of any required licenses or certifications is qualifying.

    Education: Master's or Undergraduate degree in a related field such as Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics from an accredited college or University

    Experience: Four (4) years of experience working in analytical role.

    License/Certification: None required.

  • Ability to acquire data from clinical, operational and financial database systems

  • Ability to observe and understand clinical processes and workflows

  • Ability to develop analytics and reporting solutions to provide insights to stakeholders and process owners

  • Ability to identify opportunities for process and performance improvement through data analysis

  • Ability to apply judgment and make informed decisions

  • Ability to plan, organize, prioritize, work independently and meet deadlines

  • Knowledge of EMR and other software used in functional area

  • Ability to manage, organize, prioritize, multi-task and adapt to changing priorities

  • Ability to foster effective working relationships especially between Treatment Center staff and stakeholders and IS and analytics personnel

  • Knowledge of local, state and federal regulatory requirement related to the functional area

  • Knowledge of new technologies (in specific field) and maintain and stay abreast of updates and changes

  • Ability to conduct analysis and formulate conclusions

Pay Range

Compensation is based on the level and requirements of the role.

Salary within our ranges may also be determined by your education, experience, knowledge, skills, location, and abilities, as required by the role, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.

Typically, new team members join at the minimum to mid salary range.

Minimum to Midpoint Range (1.0 FTE): $109,532.80 to $145,236.00
