We are seeking an experienced Scientist / Research Scientist with a background in the CPG industry to manage the development and implementation of Irish Spring Body Wash within our Personal Care R&D function.

What you will do

  • Lead the development and implementation of new formulations and provide technical support for body cleansing products

  • Explore and integrate new technologies into body cleansing products based on best practices in product development including experimental design, measurement science and formulation fundamentals

  • Initiate and manage multiple product stability studies per the Standard Operating Procedures

  • Actively participate, collaborate and interact with cross-functional teams (Marketing, Insights, Supply Chain, Legal, Regulatory, Product Safety and Quality) to develop and validate new products and ensure flawless implementation and commercialization

  • Create and maintain all required documentation such as project timelines, tech transfer checklists, Electronic lab notebook (LIMS), research reports and SOPs

  • Independently lead multiple product design and full development initiatives and effectively uses both internal and external resources to achieve project objectives

  • Interpret and communicate experimental data to technical and non-technical audiences

  • Support manufacturing plants in solving technical problems during the manufacturing process

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree required in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related science

  • 3+ years of Research and Development experience within CPG

  • Experience in formulation, evaluation and scaling up is a must

  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills

  • Strong oral and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge and understanding of ingredient chemistry is a plus

  • Experience in process development and scale up from Lab to Pilot to manufacturing

  • Technical knowledge in one of more of the following areas: Surfactant Chemistry, rheology and Design of experiments

Compensation and Benefits

Salary Range $90,000.00 - $101,000.00 USD

Pay is based on multiple non-discriminatory, individualized factors including but not limited to experience, job-related knowledge and education, skills and office/market location. In addition to base salary, salaried employees are eligible for annual discretionary bonuses, profit-sharing and, for Executive-level (salary grade 16 and above) roles only, long-term incentives in the form of Restricted Stock Units and/or Stock Options.

Subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable benefits plans then in effect, all salaried employees are also eligible for a competitive benefits package which includes:

  • Insurance: Employees (and their eligible dependents) are eligible to participate in Company-sponsored Medical, Dental, Vision, Basic Life Insurance, Accidental Death & Dismemberment and Disability insurance plans.

  • Retirement Plans: Employees are eligible to enroll in Colgate's 401(k) plan, which provides for company matching contributions subject to eligibility requirements

  • Vacation/PTO: Employees receive a minimum of 15 days of vacation/PTO leave annually

  • Paid Holidays: Employees receive a minimum of 13 paid/floating holidays annually

  • Paid Sick Leave: Based on location and consistent with applicable state and local law, employees receive a minimum of 40 hours of paid sick leave on January 1st of each year

  • Paid Parental Leave: Eligible employees may take up to eight weeks of paid parental leave and 12 weeks of unpaid leave (varies for employees with fewer than 12 months of service and is subject to hours worked requirements)
