Laboratory Research Technician III

The Department of Immunology is seeking a qualified candidate for a Laboratory Research Technician III in the Gottschalk laboratory. A major focus of the Gottschalk lab is tuning of macrophages signaling and function, in the context of age and tissue-specific stimuli. This full-time Research Technician position will involve work with mice and primary human cells, and lab techniques including cell culture, qPCR analysis, high content imaging, and flow cytometry. The incumbent will be expected to manage supplies and contribute to other ongoing projects. The mission of the Department of Immunology is to discover new mechanisms and pathways of the immune system to enrich human health by combating and preventing disease, enhancing vaccination, and controlling autoimmunity. Job Summary

 

Performs a variety of independent laboratory work and experiments such as determining experimental protocols and preparation of specimens and cultures. Prepares reports of findings subsequent to compilation and analyzation. Oversees specimen inventory. Develops documentation for publication; crafts manuscripts and grant proposals.

 

Essential Functions

  1. Perform laboratory procedures and tests, including cell culture, qPCR analysis, high content imaging, and flow cytometry using mouse and human immune cells.

  2. Analyze and interpret data: Perform calculations and visualize data.

  3. Handle and manipulate rodents.

  4. Coordinate and help to manage a moderate-sized research lab.
