Position Summary :

Seeking a full-time laboratory technician to provide research support to the Active Perception Laboratory in the Center for Visual Science. The position duties include running experiments using eye-tracking equipment, data analysis in MatLab, experimental design and modifications, programming in C++, writing research reports in Latex, as well as keeping lab manuals up to date. The person will work with primary investigators, postdoctoral researchers and graduate students to setup experiments, organize stimulus materials. Data collection will primarily be done using the lab’s eye- tracking system, and the individual must be able to fit research subject participants to the eye-tracker and display stimulus.

Typical Breakdown of Duties:

  • Experimental design & modification

  • Running experiments

  • Data analysis and data management

  • Writing reports and technical manuals in Latex

  • other miscellaneous duties

  • Contributes to planning research procedures and technology set-up, providing feedback on effectiveness and feasibility. Constructs, maintains, and operates eye-tracking equipment and associated computer systems.

  • Assists in eye-tracking research experiments involving human subjects. Integrates technical feedback from the community. Supervises research assistants and assigns them to necessary tasks.

  • Assists in preparation of materials for publication and presentation, such as papers, book chapters, and presentation slides. Prepares experimental stimuli, including visual and audio stimuli. Prepares computer programs, schematics, specifications, designs, charts, graphs, tables, illustrations, photographs.

Pay Range

Pay Range: $ 15.38 - $ 24.52 Hourly

The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job’s compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
