Objectives : Internal Service Technician II has met the requirements of an Internal Service Technician I, is proficient in all aspects of the job and is capable of training others as required (with limited assistance). Additionally, the Service Technician II may be requested to provide technical phone support for customers and company sales personnel, complete technical product complaint evaluations, accurate reporting and data management, provide assistance with departmental workflow, support for development of technical documentation

Responsibilities :

• Clean, evaluate, troubleshoot, adjust, calibrate, repair and test electronic medical equipment while maintaining established quality standards and service times.

• Provide accurate technical findings, corrective action and parts usage data entry into the service management system.

• Order repair parts, to include component research, revision evaluation and order execution using company part management system.

• Interface with internal and external customers to provide information including, but not limited to equipment evaluation results, repair quotations, and technical advice.

• Performs calibration and alignment checks; makes adjustments, modifications and replacements as directed.

• Maintain area within company guidelines.

• Provide subject matter expertise to develop technical documentation.

• Communicate with customers (internal & external) and provide professional technical assistance. Provide diagnosis, problem isolation, and/or replacement part identification and problem resolution. Provide professional Customer Service support including research activities and accurate data entry into applicable B+L service management systems.

• Assists with providing technical and general equipment and communications training for department personnel as needed. This may include participation in training material development.

• Support technical document development by providing material within individual’s expertise.

• Comply with all administrative policies and procedures associated with the Depot repair and service on B+L’s products.

• Develops a thorough command of the ophthalmic industry terminology, procedures, and technology as needed to provide support on products manufactured and distributed by B+L and for B+L’s customers.

• In addition to the listed duties, the incumbent is normally expected to perform other similar related duties as assigned.

Requirements :

  • Required Education: Associate's Degree or higher in electronics (equivalent technical school or military education may be considered)

  • Required Skills/Qualifications: Problem solving and decision making; Excellent interpersonal, customer service and communication skills (oral and written); Ability to work well with others and exercise good judgment; Ability to multi-task and adapt to changing priorities; Working knowledge of Quality systems (preferably medical device industry); Working knowledge of computer and basic Microsoft Office suite – (Outlook, Word, Excel, PeopleSoft)

  • Preferred Skills Qualifications: Medical device experience is highly preferred

  • Required Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in the field and/or depot environment with a good working knowledge of digital/analog electronics, mechanical hydraulic and pneumatic equipment.
