Actalent R&D Engineering Technician in Syracuse, New York

Description:

  • The R&D Engineering Techs provides technical support to the Engineering functional groups.

  • The technician will need to understand and perform tasks from written and verbal requirements; setup computers, instrumentation, test cells and equipment, and collect data that is useful in evaluating performance. Must be able to interpret engineering drawings and electrical schematics.

  • Main Tasks: Fabrication, assembly, modification, machining, brazing, refrigerant lines, forklift operation and overhead crane operation, electrical safety awareness

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

  • AA/AS degree, Technical/Business School Certificate or Diploma, Skilled Trades Apprenticeship, or other post high school training (two years duration).

  • Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience

  • The individual in this position must have strong mechanical aptitude.

  • Must also be able to read and understand engineering drawings and models for the purposes of assembling units and modifying parts.

  • EPA 608 Universal Certification Required

  • Knowledge of HVAC systems at the component level

  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings

  • Basic understanding of electrical wiring

  • Braze copper

  • Experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook

  • Knowledge of lockout/tagout electrical safety procedures.
