The Associate Director, Medical Affairs - Toxin Science will be based in USA. The position will be a scientific and clinical subject matter expert role, building clinical expertise and providing education and training in toxin science internally and externally. He/she will develop and maintain appropriate professional relationships with external customers focusing on policy and formulary decision makers, hospital institutions, academic centers, integrated health networks, government channels, and HCPs to provide comprehensive medical and scientific education and expertise for botulinum toxin products, within the assigned territory and globally.
Main Areas of Responsibilities
Identify, develop and maintain professional relationships with advocates, academic centers, and decision makers to provide access to current approved medical and scientific information on botulinum toxin products across all therapeutic and aesthetic indications.
Consistent with regulatory guidelines, ensure medical accuracy and fair balance of information to be disseminated focusing on botulinum toxin science.
Provide support for the Allergan Director of National Accounts team in US (and other commercial teams) in delivering clinical and pharmacy presentations and providing scientific education and expertise for medical policy and formulary initiatives, and education in a compliant manner.
In conjunction with the Global Director of Toxin Science, conduct on-going global education to Medical Affairs function across therapeutic areas, as well as field sales and other internal personnel as required. Ensure up to date knowledge of product use and competitor data, expected to be Allergan Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) on toxin science, health outcomes, and landscape developments.
Work closely with other groups in Allergan (e.g. Payer MSLs, regional market access managers) to provide high quality toxin science scientific expertise on an as needed and requested basis. Will provide extra-territorial support as required.
Regularly perform co-rides with other MSLs to ensure a broad external understanding of toxin science.
Working with the Global Director of Toxin Science, provide medical and scientific insights from the field and utilize insights to develop appropriate audience specific tools and materials as required and requested, including working with scientific communications teams and others to develop appropriate compliant materials and monitoring competitive environment, and appropriate literature.
Provide appropriate and approved information and education for physicians, healthcare decision makers and ancillary healthcare professionals regarding current and future toxin therapies.
Facilitate procedural aspects regarding on-strategy submission of IIT proposals from HCPs.
Work with the Payer MSL Team in the US, including ensuring alignment on scientific positioning of Allergan botulinum toxin products in an evolving and increasingly competitive landscape.
Work with Global Evidence and Value (GEV) team in development of FDAMA tools to share health economic data with external US customers and ex-US tools developed per local regulations.
Provide input and insight to support global Toxin Science strategies and operational tactics within CMO and the larger cross-functional group as required during planning cycles, and utilize appropriate tactics within area of responsibility and territories.
Act as a subject matter expert, internally and externally, provide thought leadership in toxin science.
Responsible for maintaining annual expenses within assigned budget parameters.
Responsible for accurateand timely documentation of above activities
The following listed requirements need to be met at a minimum level to be considered for the job:
Minimum 3 years total specific industry experience (pharma, device, etc.) and minimum 4 years post professional degree practice or relevant transferable experience (clinical practice, academic research, regulatory/scientific)
Ability to travel 70-80%, including local travel as well asextensive out of state with occasional international travel
Experience with botulinum toxin science
Experience with market access and tendering
Prior experience in a field-based scientific role (e.g. MSL role)
Where relevant, a good understanding of Good Clinical Practices, ICH guidelines, PhRMA code, FDA CFR, ISO, clinical research ethics, HIPAA andpatient privacy laws, EU Directive and other applicable local regulations
- MD, Pharm. D or Ph. D or related doctorate level medical or life sciencerelated degree required
