About the Position: YAI has an opening for a Human Resources Specialist, Onboarding, HRIS & Benefits to work alongside a team of HR professionals. The Human Resources Specialist will be responsible for onboarding and clearing new hires. Troubleshooting and providing Workday and Benefits support to new hires, employees, and managers alike. Key responsibilities: Onboarding: Processes all new hire paperwork, communicates status to supervisors, and maintains databases.Participates in recruitment effort; assists onboarding; processes new hire forms and paperwork.Responds to all general HR inquiries, audits, and requests.Processes background checks; communicates status to supervisors; maintains clearance database; conducts safety assessments.Acts as Custodian of RecordsRecruitment: Support sourcing, recruitment, and hiring of top talent.Liaise between hiring managers and candidates to coordinate/conduct interviews, referrals, and related business processes.Utilize various job boards, careers pages, and social media outlets to advertise and market open positions and upcoming vacancies.Organize and attend career fairs, virtual interviews, and other recruiting events.Regularly manage pipeline activity and maintain data integrity via our ATS (i.e., Workday), and proactively share data-centric updates with internal stakeholders.Generate offer letters.Facilitate open communication between the HR team and Program Managers.Attend regional leadership meetings in San Jose & Watsonville as well as departmental meetings to provide status updates, report on progress, and other related KPIs.Workday:Troubleshoot and provide timely support to new hires, employees, and managers.Completes and acts as administrator for assigned business processes.Provides training and oversees the rollout of new applications in Workday.Benefits:The initial point of contact for all benefits-related questions.Ensures the smooth communication and processing of leaves and workers’ compensation claims.Runs benefits orientations.

Education and Experience: Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or similar preferred, or equivalent experience. 2 years plus human resources or administration experience, is preferred. 1 year’s Workday ERP system experience, preferred. 1 year’s ATS, HRIS, or ERP system experience, is required.Familiarity with the I/DD field is preferred. Additional Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.Ability to manage multiple projects and multitask.Ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply the appropriate sections of applicable laws, guidelines, regulations, ordinances, and policies.Ability to acquire a thorough understanding of the organization’s hierarchy, jobs, qualifications, compensation practices, and the administrative practices related to those factors.Ability to orchestrate positive outcomes.Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.Ability to travel throughout the region(s) as needed.Proficient in utilizing ATS and ERP systems to manage back-end hiring and business processes required to move candidates through various stages of the hiring pipeline.

Schedule:

This is a Full-Time (40 Hour/Week) position. Proposed Schedule is Monday through Friday, 9am-5pm; with occasional availability after hours and weekends to attend career fairs and hiring events.

Compensation:

$24.04/hour to $24.04/hour

≈ $50,000/year (annualized)

Our Roots:

YAI was launched in February of 1957 out of a small school in Brooklyn, New York. Initially staffed by Co-Founders Bert MacLeech and Pearl Maze MacLeech alone, their pilot program served just seven people. According to Bert, from its very beginning YAI has been dedicated to providing innovative services for the I/DD (intellectual and/or developmental disabilities) community. MacLeech envisioned a, “total life adjustment approach, emphasizing personal growth, social responsibility, employment goals, and the development of independence for the individual.” At a time when institutional living was the norm for people with I/DD, this vision was nothing short of revolutionary.

YAI Today:

Today, YAI has a team of over 4,000 employees and supports over 20,000 people in the I/DD community. This extraordinary growth shows the ongoing need for these important services, and YAI’s success in offering them. YAI supports people with autism, Down syndrome, and Cerebral Palsy, among others. Operating throughout Downstate New York and Northern New Jersey, YAI now offers more than 300 programs for people of all ages.
